Spring Lip Products You Need Now

March 17, 2016

As Spring is starting ever so slowly to creep in, I see you daffodils. It’s that time when I change-up my make-up look and go for a more Spring look. One way I do this is by changing up my lip colours, in Autumn/Winter I do tend to go for deeper colours. Whereas Spring/Summer I go for something brighter and fresher, but that said a red and a nude never can do wrong. I checked in with some of my favourite make-up brands to see what they were offering this Spring for lips.

Too Faced

Too Faced is definitely one of my favourites from their amazing eye palettes to liquid lipsticks. For Spring however they have brought out ten new shades of their La crèmes lipsticks; including shades in Unicorn Tears, WHAM!, Clueless and Sugar Daddy. These lipsticks are really creamy and hydrate your lips throughout the day. They have white lotus flower extract to hydrate and soothe and power peptides to stimulate collagen and the appearance of smoother lips. I love the matte gold packaging and they are just lovely to wear all day. Too Faced La Creme Lipsticks are available now at £18 each.

KIKO

I love how affordable KIKO make-up is, lipsticks can start from as little as £4. For Spring they have a gorgeous range of lipsticks, which are slightly more expensive at £8.90 each but they are really something. They come in metallic tubes with a one-click release function, something I just always love about that and I think they look much more high-end. The lipsticks come in two formulas, one is glossier ‘Glossy Dream’ with a slightly sparkly finish and ‘Gossamer Emotion’ combines an oil and gel formula. They hydrate with orchid flower extract whilst hyaluronic filling spheres provide a voluminous plump lip effect. Gossamer Emotion comes in 30 shades and Glossy Dream in 15. My favourite is Gossamer Emotion in 103, the perfect everyday lip colour and 119 for a Spring pink. I preferred the finish of these compared to the glossier lipstick. Available now at www.kikocosmetics.com.

Burberry

For Spring Burberry recommend two of their Burberry Kisses shades, Oxblood and Nude Beige. These shades were used in the Burberry SS16 runway show and the Oxblood is a dark wine colour which makes quite a statement and goes against everything I normally do in Spring/Summer. The nude is something you can wear so easily everyday and with anything. I adore the magnetic packaging and the Burberry print embossed on the lipstick, definitely a head turner for the make-up bag. These are also hydrating and are infused with Burberry’s signature blend of rosehip, tea and lavender. Burberry Kisses are £25 each.

Tom Ford

Tom Ford have released a new lip product this Spring, the Patent Lip Colour. This comes in a clickable pen with a sponge applicator where the product comes out from. They have super shine, hence the patent name and are really vibrant. I found them quite tricky to apply at first as I have never used anything like it, but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. The colour is so glossy and really makes a statement. It’s a cross between a lip stain and a gloss. They come in eight shades; I tried out Erotic, a bright fuschia pink and Ravageur a deep red. Tom Ford Patent Lip Colour are priced at £38 each.

Estée Lauder

Estée Lauder have numerous gorgeous releases this Spring, but my focus is on the lips and the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss is the perfect Spring lip. There are 20 shades in the range and they work with your natural lip to magnify the shape and curves for a smooth shine. They feel moisturising on which is perfect for after winter. They have also released a product that is now a staple in my cosmetics bag, the New Dimension Plump + Fill Expert Lip Treatment. It reminds me of the double-ended concealer serum, which at the time I wished was something similar for lips and now there is.  One side is a ‘filler’, the serum defines the lips contour area and over time the pro collagen will strengthen the lips fragile area and encourage a more fuller defined lip. The other side is the expert plumper, a conditioning balm which helps to moisturise the lips and fight flaky skin. I can’t recommend it enough!

Leighton Denny

Leighton Denny is definitely a favourite nail brand and now they have launched ‘Lip Dual By Leighton Denny’, a duo lip product with a stain on one end and a lipstick on the other. They come in ten shades, sheen and matte and you can either wear either end on its own or layer it up. The stain gives a slight colour great for a natural look and the lip colour gives a richer colour for the lips. Pair the two together for an impact look. They are priced at £17.50 each and my favourite shade is the sheen in Catwalk Queen which pairs well with the nail shade Supermodel. Available from ld-boutique.com.

Topshop

Just like their clothes, Topshop make-up has an array of colours and products on offer and for Spring shades they have plenty of choice. Falling Fast is a velvet finish coral that just makes me think of Summer straight away, Innocent is a cute baby pink and Mind Your Manners a great everyday pink shade. Topshop lipsticks just a bit like MAC come in velvet, matte and creamy finishes so there is plenty of choice. Topshop Lipsticks are priced at £8 each.
