My Old Dutch
Whether you like your pancakes simple or extravagant, then My Old Dutch in Holborn is the perfect place to celebrate Pancake Day. Serving up sweet treats like their Butterscotch pancakes topped with white kinder Bueno, Milkybar buttons, a double shot of Nutella, crushed Oreos and served with Cocotella ice cream. Or savoury options such as the My Old Dutch filled with chicken, smoked bacon, hame, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn and cheese. There are so many choices and gluten-free options are available too. I definitely couldn’t resist the Nutella toppings.
Where the Pancakes Are
This Pancake Day Where the Pancakes are, will be extending opening hours in the restaurant and teaming up with Flat Iron Square’s Après London. Delicious pancakes will be served up all day between 7am-11pm (closed between 3pm-5pm). There will be a pancake special with Rubies in the Rubble, entitles Thoughtful Pancakes, which uses up excess produce and relates back to the roots of Shrove Tuesday of using up waste ingredients before lent.
The Thoughtful Blueberry is nutritious buttermilk pancakes served with crispy smoked streaky bacon, fresh blueberries and Rubies in the Rubble BBQ Blueberry sauce and The Thoughtful Banana, buttermilk pancakes served with crispy smoked streaky bacon, sliced banana and Rubies in the Rubble spicy Banana ketchup. Plus don’t miss the three-legged pancake races that will be happening into the evening.
Sanderson Hotel
As part of their new healthy menu collaboration with Mindful Chef and Juiceman, the Sanderson Hotel will be serving a nourishing alternative with banana and almond protein pancakes served with coconut yoghurt, maple syrup, and fresh berries. Or if you prefer your pancake in liquid form then try the Long Bar pancake cocktail Shrove It Don’t Shove It, think homemade pancakes and blueberries with lemon and maple syrup and a dash of mustika liqueur.
Christopher’s
In Covent Garden Christopher’s have three pancake specials appealing to both the sweet and savoury fans. The Lobster one – grilled lobster with sea-kale and chorizo, on top of a purple & sweet potato pancake, The Vegan one – beetroot & sunflower seed, rainbow chard & spirulina and pumpkin, caramelised onion & turmeric, garnished with pomegranate, bee pollen and coconut yoghurt. Lastly for the sweet tooth The French Toast – Buttermilk French-toasted pancakes with honeycomb pieces, honeycomb ice cream, maple syrup and a dusting of cinnamon.
Riding House Cafe
Riding House Cafe on Great Titchfield Street has always been a brunch hotspot, so it’s a no brainer to head for Pancake Day. Buttermilk pancakes served with berry compote & clotted cream, topped with sugar will be available for breakfast and as per on the weekend brunch.
Bill’s Restaurant
Leading up to Pancake Day from 6th-13th February Bill’s Restaurants will be having ‘Glamcake Day’. A pancake menu inspired by classic cocktails and with two new options to choose from. Bramble Mojito is served with a rum and lime syrup and blackberry mint cream and Amaretto Sour has a sweet and creamy Amaretto filling, with Italian meringue and toasted almonds. If alcohol isn’t your style, then opt for the traditional caramelised lemon and sugar fluffy pancakes or the caramelised banana and slated caramel ice cream pancake, served with almond and chocolate sauce and toasted pistachios.
Asia De Cuba
If you want to save your pancakes for dessert, try out Asia de Cuba’s pancake soufflé. The pancake has a rum and coconut filling and is topped with a rich hot chocolate sauce. The dessert is £8 and is available only on February 13th.
Blanchette
Both Blanchette Soho and Blanchette Brick Lane will be serving up specials all day from their bar counter crepe stations, to eat in or take away. Pancake fans will recognise the traditional Bayonne ham, gruyere cheese and egg which will feature on the menu alongside Crispy confit duck with braised cabbage and juniper or Goat’s cheese with sundried tomato, rocket and pistou. For those with a sweet tooth there will also be a selection of Blanchette inspired dessert crepes, including Chocolate sauce with hazelnut praline and beurre noisette ice cream and the classic Crêpes Suzette.
Thomas’s Cafe
One of my favourite cafes in Central London is Thomas’s Cafe at Burberry. This years pancake menu includes a variety of sweet and savoury from classic sugar and lemon to secret smokehouse salmon served with crème fraîche, caviar, dill & spring onions and the delectable chopped banana, hazelnuts and dark chocolate sauce.
Joe’s Southern Table & Bar
Joe’s Southern Table & Bar in Covent Garden will have a Pancake Day special inspired by the Deep South and perfect for fried chicken lovers. A crispy fresh sweet tea brined quarter Southern fried chicken served on a bed of homemade fluffy American-style pancakes, drizzled with sweet Jim Beam bourbon maple syrup.

February 3, 2018 at 20:09I just had Butterscotch Pancakes at Bronte and they were delicious. I don’t normally go for pancakes as I never think they will be filling but these really were.
