I had first heard of Shake Shack when I was in Miami, we sampled a dreamy milkshake and was instantly hooked. When I saw they were coming to Covent Garden I got a little bit excited. Opening at the same time as rivals Five Guys, there was going to be some hefty burger competition. On the opening it was way too busy, but yesterday alas I managed to get myself in there. It was a Tuesday and the queues have much died down, much to my delight!
Whilst waiting I had a good read through the menu, it was hard to decide what to choose but here is what I opted for:
Shake Shack Cheeseburger Single, with bacon and lettuce, A Drury Lane Jam Concrete which includes vanilla custard ice-cream, strawberry jam, ST JOHN bakery brown biscuit and fresh banana and I also got some crinkle cut fries.
Each burger gives you the option to go single or double, the same with the concretes. However don’t make the mistake I did, for some reason I thought the Concrete was a drink as it was directly under the shakes, massive fail. Although it was REALLY delicious!
My friend ordered a Smokeshack Burger which comes with Wiltshire cure smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and the mysterious ShakeShack sauce, also a strawberry milkshake and crinkle cut fries.
You can also take a seat and wait for it to be ready, as you are given a beeping buzzer, that flashes red when its ready.
We both really enjoyed the burgers and I would definitely recommend it over Five Guys. I feel you get more for your money and the burgers are better quality. Not to mention the awesome milkshakes!
