I don’t think I’ll ever not enjoy going to a blow-dry bar. Having my hair washed and blow-dried to ‘I’m worth it’ perfection will always leave me with a spring in my step throughout the day. I don’t know what it is but when my hair is done, I just feel much more confident. I hate washing and drying my hair at the best of times, as it’s so thick and takes forever, never mind the styling. So when I go for a blow-dry it’s definitely a treat. I’ve tried my fair few blow-dry bars in London and I am always getting asked my favourites, so here they are, my top 5 blow dry bars in London.
Dryby
I went to Dryby just before Christmas and instantly loved the interior. Warmly lit inside with marble tables and greeted by a free glass of Prosecco, if you want one of course! There are several styles to choose from including ‘ The London’, which I had, this was a tousled wave style shown below. For this style my hair was rough dried then tonged, which the girl did let me know, but next time I will probably choose one of the brush styles as I prefer that kind of blow-dry, it just seems to last longer. They also do nails downstairs. DryBy definitely wins for overall style and the super friendly staff. Prices start from £32 for a blow-dry. Book at www.dryby.co.uk.
Bardou
Bardou’s latest residency is in Shelton Street in Covent Garden. The stylists and staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about blow-drying your hair. I was asked what style I would like, rather than choosing straight from a book and so I got it exactly how I wanted it. I was so happy with the finished look and I always think the sign of a good blow-dry is how many days it lasts. When writing this I am currently on my third day and it’s looking pretty damn good. Don’t worry I’ll wash it tomorrow! A 30 min blow-dry is priced at £35. Book at thebardou.com.
Duck & Dry
I love Duck & Dry’s bright and airy large space they have. The bright coloured pink and pastel coloured interior is very pretty and you can also enjoy a drink from their in-bar ‘bar’. Choose from the styles in the book or ask for a mixture of a few. The stylists are very skilled and will have you ready in no time. They offer a range of updo’s which are perfect for an event look. Prices start from £30. Book at www.duckanddry.com.
Aer
Chelsea has its fair amount of blow-dry bars and one of my favourites is Aer. I was able to choose what style I liked and the results were lovely. The staff was friendly and the blow-dry bar is so brightly lit inside. There is also joint tables so you and a friend can have your hair done together. They also offer a few spa treatments like eyebrow waxing and threading. Prices start from £35. Book at aerblowdrybar.com.
Blow Ltd
Blow Ltd in Covent Garden has always been one of my favourite blow-dry bars. Their get the job done attitude is exactly what you need when you are in a hurry. They can have you in and out within 30-45 minutes and their staff are highly skilled in blow-drying. I have always been extremely happy with the results at Blow Ltd and if you fancy it, get your nails or make-up done too. They also can be booked out for parties at your own home, as well as beauty on demand through their app. Prices start from £25 for a fast 25 minute blow-dry. Book at www.blowltd.com.
