Yesterday afternoon I ventured down to Covent Garden to try out one of the most raved about places in the area,it wasn’t a restaurant or a new store but a bar, although this bar had a difference, it was in fact a blow-dry bar!
Blow-Dry bars are unheard of, even in London. In New York they are far beyond uncommon and Blow Ltd operates the same policy as these salons, everything is fast paced. You can be in and out of the salon in 30 minutes for a blow-dry and 15 minutes for make-up and manicures, just the kind of thing you need on your lunch break or for an unplanned evening out/date/interview!
Inside it is welcoming, the walls are lined with products, champagne bottles, the hair selection list (I’ll explain this in a bit), with white walls and lots of light coming in the big glass doors. The receptionist took my coat and I was offered a drink before being shown to my seat and introduced to my stylist, this was already moving quickly – result!
Blow offers 9 different types of blow-dry styles, each priced at £25 apart from the faux blow which is £20. I had a look online the night before and was torn between the Power Blow an elegant yet voluminous look or the Luxe Blow which again had lots of volume and with lots of waves. I never really wear my hair wavy so decided to go for the Luxe Blow. Don’t worry about looking before you go though, there is of course iPad’s for you to have a look through the styles as well as on the walls, which then became great for catching up on my celebrity gossip and emails whilst my stylist got to work.
I had my hair washed and with a head massage too, which felt amazing. After that it was straight onto the drying where I had two stylists drying away, my hair is really thick so no wonder it needs two. I was intrigued as to how she would create the look of waves just from blow drying and watched on intently. I could never do this myself is what went through my head. It was also great to have explained what products were used, I had a couple of Kerastase ones, the ‘forme fatale’ was brilliant, I really want to get some myself now. It is a heat protector but also helps to create volume when drying.
30 minutes was up and my hair was done, I couldn’t quite believe it, it really was finished! I was so happy with the look as it’s something I find hard to achieve myself, all big and bouncy. Even though it was a quick time at the beauty bar I never at all felt rushed and just truly pampered.
Thankyou Blow Ltd I’ll definitely be back! Book your appointment and read more on www.blowltd.com.
