Go West @ The Westbourne

May 3, 2012

On Tuesday night I delved into West London, I am not so familiar with this area but have recently found some great places in the Notting Hill vicinity, Beach Blanket Babylon being one and The Lonsdale to name drop another.

HOWEVER the focus of this post is on a great little gastropub that my friends introduced me to. Sitting opposite The Cow  (where Stella McCartney had her birthday party don’t cha know) in Westbourne Park, The Westbourne (apt) is an awesome find! It has a friendly atmosphere with the smell of GOOD food wafting about, that you simply cannot go without ordering some.
We ordered some drinks first with nibbles as we waited on Anu. Nibbles consisted of olives and long long bits of ham complemented by crusty bread, with salt and pepper for seasoning! I’m not a big salt fan and to be honest never have it on bread but wowzers! I’m probably slow on the uptake on this but hey ho…

As I said food cannot be ignored, the menu is written on the chalkboard above the open kitchen adjacent from the bar. From pate and toast, to pasta, to steak, they have it all. The favourite I could see all night was the prawns; being served in a tall glass, they were being hooked for sure.

Surrounding us on the walls was a giant clock and numerous photos and pictures of music and film. Outside hosts to a terrace, this will be great for summer drinks. Friendly and warm is all that springs to mind here, just a really great place to hang out and eat and drink.

Friends opted for the pasta where as I knew I just had to get the steak. Mmm chargrilled welsh black onglet steak with homemade chips and béarnaise sauce…mmmm steak…

All in all a good (drunken) night and got to say farewell for now to Anna, who I mentioned in the previous post from Narnia.

So as I say Ciao to Anna, I say hello to Westbourne Park…diary has been pencilled and P-Ho looks forward to spending happy times down this part of the city!
