As I mentioned earlier this week in my Elizabeth Arden make-up review, I love summer make-up collections! There is something that appeals to me so much more than those of Autumn/Winter, but don’t get me wrong I don’t even hesitate for a berry lip and a smoky eye, but with golden tan colours and shimmery highlights, it just gets me all excited. I recently made two summer lip colours at Bite Beauty Lip Lab in New York which were a coral and bright pink and the colours just make me feel in much more of a good mood.
That aside and said, Clarins Sunkissed summer collection is pretty damn amazing. I haven’t tried much from Clarins before and if so it was probably more skincare so I was really eager to try these out. So I’ll start off with the Clarins Waterproof Eyeshadows. These are £18 each and there is four colours in this limited edition collection. These are Golden Peach, Golden Sand, Silver Taupe and Copper Brown. Each shade is shimmery and has bitter orange tree wax to help create a protective, filmogenic shield against water and humidity and oh boy do they do just that. I always take the word waterproof lightly, I have tried my fair share of waterproof products and mascaras and more often been disappointed. But these are simply amazing.
Seriously they do not come off and even my face wipe struggled a little, but don’t fear they DO come off, just need a little harder rub or use an oil based eye make-up remover like I normally do. My favourites were Golden Sand which is a light golden colour and Silver Taupe which is as it suggests, a great one for a more evening look on holiday. I can’t wait to take these on holiday with me in a couple of weeks as they definitely will be able to withstand the water and heat.
As well as the waterproof eyeshadows there is also the addition of the Double Fix Mascara £20. Apply this over mascara to provide a transparent waterproof top coat to eyelashes or you can also use it on your brows too.
A new addition for summer is a new shade of the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Red Berry £19. I hadn’t tried any of these before but I always had my eye on them. They are a blend of oils including hazelnut oil, annatto oil and organic jojoba oil which coat your lips to keep them nourished. This new shade has a red berry tint which is really lovely and natural. The original shades are Honey which is completely clear and Raspberry which is also clear and tastes amazing, try not to eat it! They are non-sticky and a great alternative to a lip balm, I have been loving using these recently. It also looks great over a lipstick as a gloss.
I am a sucker for bronzers and this one is no expectation. This Bronzing & Blush Compact £30 has four shades of bronze and a blush shade in the middle. Either choose your shade and apply all over or go in with a bronzer brush and apply a darker shade to contour. Or you can do a blend of all four with a kabuki brush. It matches all skin tones and has an anti-pollution complex, light optimizing complex and plant micropatch to maintain skin’s hydration. I absolutely loved this, it is definitely going to be a sure-fire addition to my make-up bag this summer.
