Winter Body Glow

October 1, 2015

As today is the 1st of October, I thought it was a perfect time to share some tips on keeping that body glow and tan you picked up in summer, well maybe, let’s just imagine we all had amazing holidays here. Even though we’ll all be in tights and big jumpers, it’s still important to look after your skin and make sure you exfoliate and moisturise to keep it in tip-top condition, as once party season comes round you’ll thank me!

Here are my top tips and products on how to keep that head to toe body glow.

Maintain a body glow

Face

In winter, the mixture of cold air and then hot air from inside can really play havoc on your skin and basically cause a pile up of dead skin cells, which can in turn make your skin flaky and patchy and will make your make-up go on all kinds of wrong. Keep skin smooth and soft with an exfoliator, a couple of my favourites are 001 Pure Active Peel and shown here the Murad Skin Smoothing Polish which removes dry and dull skin to help keep pores clear and blackhead free. It removes impurities without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. It’s up to you how often you exfoliate, I recommend at least once a week in the colder months.

I’m very pale, so to keep my face looking a bit more alive, I use a fake tanner on the face. My current favourite is from St Tropez and is their Sensitive Bronzing Lotion. I have sensitive skin and so this is a brilliant way to help me add a bit of colour without it irritating my skin at all. It comes out uncoloured and develops over a couple of hours, but don’t worry it’s not too dark and is a lovely golden colour, so you can always reapply. I try to use this maybe twice a week.

For the body, one thing I have started using is a body brush. I picked up this Champney’s body brush in Boots and it’s a great way to exfoliate the skin, so you can use it in the shower when wet or you can also use it on dry skin to boost circulation and it also can help to reduce cellulite. Your skin is an organ after all so why not give it some tender loving care. For moisturising I am loving Murad’s Collagen Support Body Cream, this is a new release, launching November 1st and it is heaven in a jar. It’s a super soft cream, more of a whippy texture really and goes on so smooth, non greasy and it makes my skin feel amazingly soft. It locks in moisture for 24 hours, with ingredients that include shea butter, sunflower seed oil and vitamin E it’s the perfect way to keep your body nourished in the colder months.

Lastly for a touch of golden colour, my new favourite tan I have discovered is Bondi Sands. I always think I’ve found the perfect tan and then I try a new one and fall in love with it all over again. Bondi Sands is brilliant, it smells of coconut and goes on with a colour guide for the mousse and the spray shown above is clear on application. My favourite is the light/medium mousse but this dark spray is a lovely colour too and not to too dark at all. It’s streak free and fades really well, no patchiness. You can also double up after 30 minutes with a second application for a darker colour.
