Last month Pinterest invited to me attend their UK launch party, I am massive Pinterest fan/addict so was delighted to have been asked to go. It was great to be able to meet some like-minded Pinners and bloggers, plus hear more about Pinterest and the UK launch from co-owner Evan Sharp.
Under a veil of fairylights we had plenty of cocktails flowing, cake pop making – I made a nice yellow and red one, stocked up on Pick’N’Mix and also got crafty making our own shot glasses. It was a really fun evening and great to hear the plans for officially launching in the UK, as well as the PinItForwardUK blogger campaign which I was asked to be a part of to help celebrate their launch over the water.
So what is Pinterest?
You may or not be aware of Pinterest, if not it is a social media site where you can store all your favourite images by pinning them. Each user can create their own boards where they can share images of things that they like with others. Other users can then repin these images to their boards. A bit like making your own collage that you can share with millions of people, now how cool is that?
Why use Pinterest for Blogging?
I am an avid user of Pinterest and find it brings a lot of traffic to my blog. Before I started my blog I pinned fashion, places I wished I could visit, along with cool bits and bobs I came across . Now I use it pretty much the same, but also pin images from my blog which has been really helpful in spreading the word of The P-Ho Diaries. When someone sees an image they like they can instantly click-through to the page that it came from, you can also easily share pins now with friends through the share button so chances of your blog getting noticed are even greater.
Another great feature Pinterest has for us bloggers is you can sign up as a Blogger and get access to analytics. This gives you insights into what people have pinned from your blog, as well as Most Repinned and Most Clicked pins.
I started doing a Pin Of The Week every week, which is where I chose my favourite Pin from Pinterest that week from my pinning travels. I no longer run this feature but you can still take a look at the Pins from previous week if you click the above link.
One of my favourite boards I have is The Lust Life, who doesn’t dream of buying all these designer goodies? I love pinning designer fashion for inspiration and also it ties in nicely with my Objects Of Affection on the blog.
Here are some of my favourite pieces I am lusting after from the board, I totally need these pineapple shoes!
Tell me how to join!
If you haven’t already you can sign up for Pinterest and check out my board and profile to see how it all works a bit more, otherwise just have a good old nosy at my pins, go on you know you want to!
Next in the Pin It Forward UK trail are two awesome bloggers; Charlotte from The Tea Drinking English Rose and Jayne from Jayne’s Kitschen who will be sharing why they love Pinterest, be sure to check them out for more inspiration.
