A Night In With Wine & Candles

A Night In

September 7, 2014

I enjoy nothing more than a night-in catching up with my programmes, Made In Chelsea, Scandal and X-Factor currently. It’s also good to take some time off from the blog, I’m normally at an event, taking outfit photos or writing away my next post, which I absolutely love doing and find myself working away from morning to-night quite happily, but once in a while it’s nice to take time out and recharge the batteries.

So what I do is I pour myself a glass of wine, naturally a good white and light a candle. I was sent a bottle of New Zealand Te Pā wine to try, the Sauvingnon Blanc is an award-winner and has aromas of Grapefruit and Lime Zest combined with floral notes for a really crisp and refreshing taste. I absolutely loved this wine and was a bit sad when the bottle ran out. Find it at The Wine Society for £9.95, I’ll definitely be ordering another! I always find candles so relaxing and some of my favourites right now are the Heidi Klein Coconut Beach candle and also this one seen below from Next. I smelt this at the Next New-In event just last week and fell in love with it straight away. It’s called ‘Noir Black Dark’ and has such a gorgeous Autumnal smell, quite like that of Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir. It’s been making my room smell amazing!

Night-in’s are the best excuse to run a bath and also have a bit of pampering. I’ve been trying out this bath soak from The Bathory, who are an English company and all their bath soaks are put together from their workshop in the English countryside. You can choose your own ingredients that go in the soak to suit your mood. I was lucky enough to be asked to try one out, of course being such a big bath lover I jumped at the chance!

The Bathory Bath Soak

First of all you choose your salt mix, this is what kind of bath you want. So either ‘Bask’ which is packed with three luxury mineral salts, ‘Detox’ which includes pure Epsom salts and Rhassoul Clay to draw out toxins and finally ‘Soothe’ which hydrates with oatmeal, honey and buttermilk. I opted for ‘Soothe’ as I love a bath that’s really moisturising. The next step lets you choose your own oils to add to the mix, you pick three and there is plenty of choice including Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Lemon and Grapefruit plus many more. Each has a little bit of information of each to help make your choice. I went for Lemon, Grapefruit and Ylang Ylang and loved my unique blend when it arrived in its own glass pot, which makes a great make-up brush holder afterwards. It was wrapped up in it’s own packet and I loved the cheeky ‘Let’s Get Naked’ card that came with it.

You can use a little bit, half or empty it all in for the best bath of your life! I decided to go for it and poured it all in. It had a really lovely smell and felt very relaxing, especially topped with my candles and wine. The Bathory is £18 for each bath soak and is such a great way to personalise your bath or give to someone as a special gift.

Finally I like to pamper with some of my favourite products right now. First up is Rodial’s Dragon Blood Cleansing Water £29, this is such a fantastic cleanser. I love nothing more than wiping all my make-up off when I’m chilling in the house and with this I just put some on a cotton pad and it takes my make-up off so easily, leaving my face nice and refreshed. It includes rose-water to help remove all make-up and the dragon’s blood (not real dragons of course) to soothe sensitive and stressed skin. It definitely gets one of those ‘aah’ moments!

I like to use a facial treatment when I get the time, so something like GlamGlow’s Thirsty Mud is usually my go to, but recently I’ve tried this Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment £51. This treatment is for extremely dry or distressed skin, it includes plant extracts which deliver doses of Vitamin A & E to nourish, relive and hydrate parched skin. This product is pretty expensive but goes a long way. Like with most oil products you only need a few drops each time you use it so lasts a long time. As this product is natural it is pretty strong-smelling, but the benefits of my skin are totally worth it!

When I get free time, I always paint my nails, I convince myself that more time equals better nails, but the reality is usually not the case. This Leighton Denny polish in ‘I Love Juicy’ has been worn throughout the latter part of the summer, I really love the colour and the durability is fantastic, this lasted me all holiday and longer without a chip, seriously impressed. I’m definitely going to look into more of these polishes. Get yours online for £11.00 at lookfantastic.com.

This looks like a perfect relaxing evening, nothing better than white wine and a candle!!!! I don’t have a bath just a shower which is a shame as it’s the ultimate bliss sometimes when you’ve got a face mask etc! I love the dragons blood range and hasn’t seen the cleansing water so I need to snap that up now xxx
