7 Things To Do In West London

February 5, 2020

NATIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM

A favourite museum in London has got to be the National History Museum. It’s free to visit and has plenty to explore. From the impressive giant blue whale skeleton hanging up in the Hintze Hall as you enter to thousands of natural history objects within the exhibitions. This May sees a special Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts Exhibition which will focus on legendary beasts such as the tiger and a Galápagos marine iguana alongside wizarding world specimens including an Erumpent horn and the dragon skull from Professor Lupin’s classroom. I’m sure it will be a must for any Harry Potter fan, find out more here.

HARRODS BEAUTY HALL

Harrods have been revamping the store and last year saw the opening of a brand new beauty hall which is an absolute joy to shop in. Inside there are boutiques from CHANEL, Huda Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Christian Louboutin and so many more. If you love beauty then you will love exploring this floor, it’s huge! Afterwards pop to the brilliant new food hall, where there are loads of foodie treats to discover as well as a cafe situated in the centre.

TUTANKHAMUN EXHIBITION

Explore the wonders of Tutankhamun’s tomb as discovered by British explorer Howard Carter in 1922 with over 150 original artefacts on display at the Saatchi Gallery. Learn about the King’s short life and what each of the objects placed in his tomb represented. This is the last time you will get the chance to see these amazing wonders of Tutankhamun before they return to Egypt for their final home in the Grand Egyptian Museum. If you love Egyptian history then this is one not to be missed. The exhibition runs until Sunday 3rd of May 2020, tickets available here.

THE KNOT CHURROS

Stop by The Knot Churros for a sweet treat in the form of their delicious churros. Choose from a variety of toppings such as cinnamon churros with strawberry dipping sauce or go big and top it off with chocolate, sprinkles and candy floss. They have a fun selection of milkshakes, slushies and they even do personalised lattes with your face or whatever you choose on top. They are known for the personal touch, so don’t be surprised for a personalised message or two on your visit.

EGGSLUT

I became a fan of Eggslut’s breakfast burgers when I discovered them in Las Vegas, finally they’ve decided to open up in London and the first store is in Portobello Road in Notting Hill. Expect yummy more-some burgers paired with eggs and bacon. It’s a simple concept but a must-try if you haven’t.

THE FIFTH FLOOR BAR

Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Bar is the perfect place to stop by for a cocktail and bites to eat. Choose from their selection of cocktails from the London inspired menu, my favourite is the Royal Diva; raspberry vodka, apple, vanilla, passionfruit, lemon and topped with Champagne. The bites to eat include chorizo sausage rolls, oysters and pork belly sliders. Perfect for after shopping or just a catch up with friends. In the evenings they have DJ’s which set a really great mood.

39 STEPS COFFEE

If you are after a coffee shop with great coffee and food then 39 Steps is an ideal place to stop by. Avoid the usual busy Pret a Manger (there is one across the road) and opt for 39 Steps instead. All your coffee needs are met here, whether it’s iced coffee, almond milk or coffee freakshakes, this is your place. They offer breakfast and lunch as well as a selection of pastries.
