Label.men Haircare

April 12, 2015

Label.m has released a brand new range of products aptly named label.men. There are 7 products in the range, scalp purifying shampoo, invigorating conditioner, grooming cream, sculpting pomade, deconstructor, max wax and thickening tonic – as a hair product junkie I was excited to try the new range and see how it compared against some of my favourite hair products and a number of other label.m products I already have.

All the products within the range incorporate a selection of unique hair-building botanicals, to help soothe scalp, restore hair vitality and support healthy hair growth. These include; New Zealand tea tree to unclog hair follicles, soothe the scalp and nourish the roots. Peppermint to boost shine, Philippine Clove to increase the activity of the hair follicle for thicker hair, Indian Sandalwood for hydration and moisture and finally Carrot Root & Seed Oil to help repair damage.

Letting you into my little secret motto about hair products, typically what smells great tends to be a great product and this is true when it comes to the Scalp Purifying Shampoo £9.95, it really has a great smell. It cleans well and even with harder product it really cleans your hair and scalp well.  As you would expect I teamed up the shampoo with the Invigorating Conditioner £11.50, the conditioner also smells great and really does work, it has an exclusive formula that was created just for men, so take note girlfriends these products might not be the best to steal. I found the conditioner worked particularly well when my hair was slightly greasy.

Getting down to using the Grooming Cream £10.50, as with most good cream products, it’s light and great for a natural controlled finish. Personally I find it great as a pre product (like a salt or thickening spray) and to create texture before a slightly firmer product.

The Sculpting Pomade £11.50 is a good product if you prefer a water based pomade to finish with shine and great if you have a longer hair style, like the slick back look or have a longer quiff. The pomade is also good if you prefer to style with damp hair and create an all day shine finish.

The Deconstructor £11.50 is my personal favourite; it’s a versatile creme paste and is comparable to the popular label.m matte paste product. The paste is great for a large variety of styles especially with the more fashionable longer hair styles. The deconstructor is the product for you if you are looking for a natural finish with volume and a firmer finish. If you prefer a messier or slept in look, this is the product out of the range for you.

Max Wax £11.95 is the strongest hold product in the range and is designed for men with thicker, coarse or wavier hair styles. If you are looking for a summer cut with a skin or zero fade with a shorter fringe, the max wax would be the product I recommend for all day control with shine.

Label.men thickening tonic review

Moving onto the last product the Thickening Tonic £11.95, the spray works in both wet and dry hair and builds layers into your hair. If you are looking for lift or volume in your hair the cashmere tonic will give you exactly that. It was great to add texture and using alongside a hairdryer it will give you hold and a fuller hair style. If you use a sea salt spray this could easily replace it. I like teaming up the thickening tonic with the deconstructor product or hair spray, as I like the fuller more texture finish.
