Magic With Oliver B At W Hotel

Last week we got to see magician Oliver B in action at the W Hotel Lounge Bar. Oliver’s magic blew us away and left me feeling like I wish I’d really invested time in that magic kit when I was 10. I’m talking David Blaine inspired magic, not fluffy bunnies and people being sawed in half. Every Tuesday at the W Hotel in Leic Sq, catch Oliver entertaining guests in the bar. The cocktails are not to be missed, I recommend the ‘Secret Garden’ a mix of strawberries and champagne or the ‘W Fashioned’ a take on the classic complete with chocolate. Check out Oliver B in action on his website.

Notting Gill Chippy

This August visit the Notting Gill Chippy pop-up at Kensington Place. Adjacent to the main restaurant, the pop-up not only has the classic fish and chips, but dishes imagined by chef Tim Peirson include lobster thermi-bun, bitter & twisted scampi and curried-spiced batter fish & chips with mango chutney and lentil dahl. If you prefer your fish and chips more traditional like me, go for the classic or fish finger butty with ketchup. The Notting Gill Chippy runs until August 29th Tue-Sat and accepts walk-ins only.

London Gets Kinky

London has a new musical in town. Kinky Boots comes to London from the end of August with previews from 21st August. The show was huge on Broadway and has music written by Cyndi Lauper. Starring in the London version is Killian Donnelly who I recently saw in Memphis and provided a stellar performance. Killian plays Charlie Price who is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the shoe factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, played by Matt Henry. Book tickets now at kinkybootsthemusical.co.uk.

Rooftop DJ Sessions at Coq d’Argent

If you can’t make it to Ibiza this summer, then soak up some sun, hopefully and Ibiza beats at Coq d’Argent’s rooftop Ibiza sessions. Throughout August, the sessions will run from Tuesday-Friday 7pm-11pm, with Plateau MAZI’s resident DJ , Classic Wabaso on the decks spinning up summery tunes to get you unwinding on the roof terrace. The rooftop has a great view over the city, so enjoy a cocktail or two with some top tunes.

Selgas Cano Serpentine Gallery Pavilion

This years pavilion is designed by Spanish design duo, José Selgas and Lucía Cano. The pavilion has become an international site for architectural experimentation, presenting inspirational temporary structures by some of the world’s greatest architects. Visitors can enter and exit the Pavilion at a number of different points, passing through a ‘secret corridor’ between the outer and inner layer of the structure and into the Pavilion’s brilliant, stained glass-effect interior. The pavilion is open daily from 10am to 6pm and admittance is free.

So much going on at the moment! I really want to go to the Notting Gill chippy but I just don’t think I’m going to have time to go before it disappears!
