Regent Street Christmas Light Switch On
Oxford Street have the Christmas lights up and so now it takes the turn of Regent Street. This year the lights are sponsored by Jo Malone, who have just recently opened a new store on the shopping street in London. The lights will be switched on by Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell this Sunday 15th November and will see a brand new innovative lighting scheme entitled ‘Timeless Elegance’, designed by ACT Lighting Design, who are famed for designing the Champs Elysees Christmas Lights. On the day of the switch on, festivities begin at 12 noon with a star-studded Christmas show hosted by Classic FM presenters Myleene Klass and Aled Jones, plus enjoy traffic free shopping.
Mulled Wine Festival
London’s first ever mulled wine festival comes to Covent Garden this festive season thanks to Yelp. The festival takes place at Covent Garden’s piazza on November 12th, 13th and 14th between 12pm and 9pm each day. Expect mulled wine, mulled cider, mulled jelly shots, mulled ice creams and of course, mince pies from the top restaurants and food brands; Gordon Ramsay’s Heddon Street Cafe, MEATMarket, Battersea Pie, Chez Antoinette, LIC pops, Smith, Sinclair and more. All donations go to Connection at St-Martin-in-the-Field, a charity that helps support homeless Londoners in multiple ways. So you’ll be drinking for a good cause. Juergen Teller Exhibition
Remember those Kim & Kanye photos in the field? Yep, those ones. Well the man behind them Juergen Teller has an exhibition in London showcasing three of his recent projects including those exact photos taken of Kim in the grounds of Château d’Ambleville, France. The photography exhibition is free and runs between Tuesday November 10th until Friday November 20th at Phillips auction.
Lord Mayor’s Show and Fireworks
The annual Lord Mayor’s parade takes place this Saturday 14th November. The parade has been around for years with 2015 marking 800 years. The parade takes place between the three and a half mile stretch between St Paul’s and Aldwych from 11am until around 2.30pm with over 7,000 entertainers including, acrobatics, jugglers and dancers. To mark the end of the Lord Mayor’s show, there will be a fireworks show at 5.15pm at the riverside. For more info visit lordmayorsshow.london.
Christmas in Carnaby
Carnaby Street’s Christmas installations will be switched on this Thursday 12th November and as they have a disco theme, expect giant glitter disco balls and celebrating with a bit of a party. Across Kingly Court at Carnaby will be thousands of sparkly lights which will scatter across the three floors, as well as the The Newburgh Quarter which will be dressed in Christmas trees with a disco twist of bright-lit stars. The installations will be launched at 6.30pm with a glitterball stage hosting top DJ’s. The party will continue until 9pm with shoppers able to snap up offers of 20% off as well as in fun in-store activities including complimentary manicures photobooths and drinks and nibbles.
