Vingt Quatre are known for their 24 hour Cafe & Diner in Chelsea, yes you did read right, that is definitely 24 hour. Last night they had their soft launch for the new venue which is opening just off Tottenham Court Road in Bloomsbury. The soft launch is for friends & family to test out all the food at 50% off and also put the new staff through their paces. I was lucky enough however to win their Twitter competition and scored Danny and I a free meal plus drinks, yes please!
The inside of VQ has a great atmosphere, we were first for dinner at 7pm and as it was getting dark outside, the inside was so nicely lit with different coloured panels and clock images across the back wall. I love the giant VQ sign outside which changes colour too. The tables inside are lined up with comfy leather booth style seats.
The menu at VQ offers an all day breakfast, plus lunch and dinner, who doesn’t want pancakes at 8pm? Of course there are plenty of cocktails, wine, champagne, beers and milkshakes, pretty much you think of it they have it. We started off with cocktails, I had a Mojito and Danny had a Bloody Mary, I love starting a meal with a cocktail, it’s a great palette cleanser, really it is, or maybe I’m just addicted to cocktails.
What I love about VQ is it is such good value for money, you can have a hot dog for just 4.50 or opt for something a little bigger and it won’t break the bank. For starters we shared some bread and merguez sausages with harissa and tzaziki dips, they had great flavour and were piping hot.
Main courses I had fish and chips, which was absolutely huge, I was not expecting such a large fish for just £11.95, but wow I was super impressed. I tried my best but didn’t manage to eat it all. The man’s next to me was even bigger, the fish I mean obviously. Danny had chicken milanese with tomato and rocket which looked super delicious. To complement our mains we had a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc, how cool are these ice bags?
I was excited for dessert mainly because what I loved was they were nice and simple. I’m not one for over the top fancy desserts and totally happy with ice cream and jelly which is what I had. The jelly had actual pieces of strawberry in it, so delicious. Danny had the knickerbocker glory full of ice-cream, smarties and chocolate sauce.
We both had such a great meal and will definitely be going back. Until the end of October they are offering 50% off all food,so get stuck in now and check out the menu here.
Thanks so much to VQ for a great evening!
