Attending a wedding can make you think about what love is and what it means to you. Last weekend Danny and I headed away for the weekend to the beautiful Shendish Manor for a friend’s wedding. Watching another couple share their love for each other with friends and family, you can’t help but be happy and in good spirits and when you get to share it with someone you love too it makes it all the more special.
We checked into our room and got ready together, which made me think of all those little moments I love about being together.
So what is real love to me? It’s all the thoughtful things he does for me; such as when our heating wasn’t working last week and Danny went out in the early morning to find a heater so I wouldn’t be cold for the rest of the day. It’s when he waits at weekends until I get up until he has breakfast and writes me post-it notes and sticks them to my laptop so I read them to start my day. It’s how he takes photos of me in an outfit for the blog even if I make him bend down to take pictures of my shoes, or waits patiently whilst I photograph our dinner before he can eat it.
As we both work in the online business and also blog together, it’s great to have someone who understands what you do. We even met online, Twitter to be exact.
I love trying to surprise Danny with gifts, I think it’s my speciality, I love being creative and I find a personal gift can be so thoughtful. When thought has gone into a gift even if it’s worth nothing it means so much more to me. It’s not surprising coming from online backgrounds that when it comes to gifts we both love the ease of shopping online. Notonthehighstreet.com is my favourite online marketplace and this Valentine’s they have some really lovely ways to personalise gifts. We both wanted to choose a gift that reflected our relationship and remind us of those wonderful moments we spend together.
For Danny I chose the Personalised Love Is Valentine’s Scratch Card £6.50. I loved this idea for a card, as you can choose what you want it to say and it adds a fun element with the scratch off love heart to reveal the gift. I chose for it to say ‘Love is a night spent at’, I won’t ruin the surprise by revealing what’s under the heart just yet. It just makes the usual card a bit more fun and let’s you be creative and personal with what it says too.
For my gift Danny chose the ‘Love Is Real’ Personalised Favourite Things Valentines Sweatshirt £39. He knows one of my favourite things to do when I get home is getting changed into my comfies – my sweatshirt, joggers and my fluffy socks. But instead of a plain sweatshirt, you can choose what they love and personalise it. Instead of adding himself, he chose to add snuggles, sloths – because it my dream to go to the sloth sanctuary and margaritas as they are my favourite drink! I love this sweatshirt, it’s so comfy and was great for our weekend away at the wedding to change into. I love nothing more than comfort.
We had a lovely time at the wedding, it was such a great day and a perfect pre Valentine’s way to celebrate love. All that was left to do was relax, order room service and enjoy our mini break away.
What is love to you?
