On Thursday of last week I was cordially invited to the official launch party of the Quarter groups latest offering, the Royal Quarter Cafe in Victoria. The Quarter group are renowned for their other venues which include Chelsea Quarter Café on King’s Road, River Quarter Kitchen in Plantation Wharf, Battersea and Heal’s Quarter Café on Tottenham Court Road. The area of Victoria is undergoing an exciting transformation which sees the foodie scene flourishing as it becomes the place to be for Londoners, office workers, residents and tourists. For more information take a look at Create Victoria.
Royal Quarter Cafe is one of many of the new developments. Owned by Valeria and Doron Zilkh, the Cafe has a vast menu offering a modern mix of seasonal and healthy comfort food that includes homemade pastries, all day breakfasts, sandwiches and soups, hearty salads and of course delicious cakes and afternoon tea. Inside the interior is modern and clean, with over 70 seats in a corner seating area. There are tall bookshelves complete with home comfort objects and photographs, one of John Travolta none the less! The windows are long and tall lining the side of the building letting in lots of light which gives it a really welcoming feel. Chalkboards on the walls list the specials and also make great welcome signs.
We were treated to a selection of the food on offer all evening. I particularly loved the Roast Leg Of Lamb with mint mayonnaise, on homemade potato and rosemary bread – delicious! I had quite a few of those, plus the BBQ Chicken was also another great addition from the carvery. There was also copious amounts of champagne flowing, making the perfect evening.
The cakes on show looked delicious so it was only fair that we got to try them. For desserts I sampled the cheesecake and chocolate brownie with macadamia nut, both tasted really good.
There was even a speech from one of the residents himself, who seemed no more than happy of the new development and his glasses of champagne! Visit the Royal Quarter Cafe
