This year’s designer collaboration for River Island Design Forum is with British design duo Sibling. The collection launched at the end of last week in River Island and on Sunday night I attended the BFC fashion film event which saw fashion attendees get a full look at the River Island x Sibling short film.
Since 2012 at London Fashion Week the fashion film event has showcased short films by fashion designers, with this year being Henry Holland, Dorateymur and the River Island Design Forum collaboration. The River Island Design Forum works with carefully selected designers each season to create an exclusive one-off collection, which will be available to buy on the high-street and also at a much more purse friendly affordable price. Previous designers have included Georgia Hardinge, Eudon Choi and Jean-Pierre Braganza.
On the evening we enjoyed a panel discussion and were the first to see the films. The River Island x Sibling short film, celebrated the new collection and was produced in collaboration with iD magazine. It stars the beautiful model Ella Richards, who you might recognise from the Burberry campaign and is also none other than Rolling Stone’s Keith Richards granddaughter. Styling was done by Julia Sarr-Jamois, senior fashion editor at iD. The clip sees Ella on her daily journey in London, choosing her outfit, taking selfies and partying, all in the new collection of course.
The range incorporates Sibling’s fun and fashionable personality and takes inspiration from Ellen Von Unwerth photographs, Brigitte Bardot, daisies, Sibling’s love of knits, sequins and denim. It’s a really wearable range that you can definitely dress up or down. On the evening I wore my favourite piece, the blue glitter knitted bomber jacket. I love the colour of the jacket and the red trim details. I wore it over a black funnel neck top with jeans and I naturally chose to dress it up with some heels. It was then time to enjoy the rest of the evening with a few drinks!
The full River Island x Sibling collection is now available online and in stores, with prices between £15 to £55.
