I’ve heard so much about Olaplex and it’s amazing hair protecting and colour boosting properties. It seems every American YouTuber I watch is using it and finally it’s over here in the UK. Colournation is one of the salon’s that offers this treatment so I went to test it out for myself.
What Is Olaplex?
Olaplex is a hair treatment that helps to make your colour last longer and prevents damage like hair breakages. The technical says it “helps rebuild the broken disulphide bonds within the hair that can break during chemical processes, particularly colouring or using thermal heated tools. Disulphide bonds are the bonds that give elasticity and strength to the hair.” You can have the treatment as a stand-alone or when you are having your hair coloured. I haven’t long had my hair coloured so went for the stand alone treatment.
I headed over to the wash basins and my hair was applied with the no.1 part of the treatment, this was left on for ten minutes and then no.2 was applied for another ten minutes. During this time I sat up, read some magazines and enjoyed my hot chocolate. After this it was shampooed and conditioned, then washed off and onto the blow-dry. I decided to go for sleek, with a bit of volume and wave at the end. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to have the treatment after recently having the K Fusion smoothing treatment, but it was totally fine and if anything it just added an extra boost to my hair and it’s condition.
The first thing I noticed were the ends, which to be honest are probably are in need a bit of a cut and they looked great. They were pretty dry before the treatment and the Olaplex had really improved this, they looked like they had been cut. The treatment took about an hour and a bit all in, but if having it with your colour, it is just mixed into the colour so shouldn’t add too much extra time. I definitely would get Olaplex again and would look to have it each time I have my hair coloured to help prevent damage. Now I know what all the American’s have been raving about!
Olaplex is offered at Colournation with colour as £25 upgrade or without for £50.
