A bar I’ve discovered in Islington is Keston Lodge. I find myself going continually going back and if I lived closer would definitely have it as my regular. As soon as you walk in it has an electic feel with its mix of retro furniture with cosy booths, leather seats, a wooden clock and my favourite the neon ‘Small Disco’ sign.
Perfect for a Sunday sunny day like today, the bar has some seating outside and also a little secluded secret garden at the back, small but yet cosy.
Now onto the drinks, the usual mix of spirits, beers, ciders etc but of course my favourite, the cocktails. They are currently running a summer cocktail menu with treats like ‘Strawberries and Cream Daiquiri’ although beware the lavender in this one, it’s pretty strong. The Berry Vodka Collins tastes sweet like jam and the best thing of all get there before 9pm and you can have an extra one for a pound. Don’t be ashamed to stock up before the curfew. I did.
There is some different things on each wall, this one I’m not sure what it is, but you get the idea.
Not one to harp on about the toilets in a bar unless they are a) clean and b) pretty cool. At Keston Lodge they are both. With old wooden door stable doors, cute little lamps, and woods printed wallpaper. Lost in the woods you may well be after a few too many.
I haven’t had the chance to eat here yet but the homemade burgers look great so I will have to try them out and report back. The bar is open generally late, with Sat till 3am so is a perfect place to go if you don’t fancy a club, some great tunes, more New Young Pony Club than Rihanna and always buzzing.
