Festival season is finally here! Which means it’s summer and well I hope you have some sun to match it for your festival weekends. Whether you are a first time goer or a regular, here are five beauty tips to keep you looking and feeling your best whilst dancing away to your favourite bands.
Instagram Ready
Get yourself ready for plenty of selfies by being Instagram ready. Take a good foundation like Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation which lasts 24 hours so will keep your face game strong from morning until …morning! So no need for touch ups, as who has time for that? To keep you looking glowy and to highlight those cheekbones, apply Revlon Photoready SkinLights in Bronze Light for an extra glow. At a festival you don’t want to be caked in make-up but I say take a good base, highlighter, mascara and lipgloss. I am loving Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes it really lengthens and stays on all day as well as MeMeMe cosmetics light up lip gloss. This is perfect as it comes with a mirror and light – sorted!
Protect Yourself
Make sure you protect yourself from getting burnt with plenty of sunscreen. P20 sunscreen is a fantastic one to choose as you only need to apply it once a day. If you are worried then pick up a smartsun UV indicator wristband, a pack of 5 is £4.99 and these wristbands will change colour throughout the day, when it goes beige it means to apply more and pink means to stay out of the sun. A great one when you are out in it all day. Don’t forget your hair either, protect it from drying out and against UV rays with Color Wow’s Pop & Lock which helps to lock in your colour and shine and block out those UV rays. Keep lips moisturised and any other dry skinned areas with Dr Paw Paw original balm, this is a multi-purpose balm and an essential to take with you, use for lips, as a primer or even to help with potential bee stings.
Go Mini
Pack mini’s to save space and look after your locks. An essential is dry shampoo to keep hair looking fresh each day, try Lee Stafford’s cute travel size and of course it’s pink. Also pick up a mini sized hairspray like this one from V05 Ultimate Hold designed for all weathers, it of course may be raining (hopefully not!) and Toni & Guy’s sea salt spray is perfect to keep those waves going that you did before you left for the festival. Check out my easy festival hair guide for inspiration. Finally pack a detangler brush, I love the Denman Tangle Tamer Ultra, it really tangles all those knots. Festival air just affects my hair so bad and I always end up with matted hair so this is a must.
Cover Dark Circles With Glitter
A day or two in and you probably haven’t had much sleep. One of the best things about festivals is to be creative with your look and anything goes. Add some silver or gold glitter under your eyes to hide those dark bags. Apply with a touch of vaseline and sprinkle it on!
Stay Hydrated
An obvious one, but also easily forgotten when enjoying yourself. Especially if you are drinking alcohol, then do make sure to drink plenty of water. Not only will it stop you getting dehydrated and tired throughout the day but your skin will thank you for it. A pack of face wipes is always good for a festival, but I like to use them for other things and opt for a cream cleanser instead so I am still looking after my skin. The best thing about Balance Me Restore & Replenish Cleanser is you don’t need water to wash it off, just swipe with a cotton pad and your done. It contains hyaluronic acid to help hydrate and keep skin plump, as well as blackberry leaf extract which is a powerful anti-oxidant to help protect against environmental damage such as sun damage, redness and dryness.
