Are you off holiday this month? If so take a read through my beauty checklist, a few things I like to do to get ready for holiday.
Don’t Forget Your Feet
So 7-10 days before holiday (I am that organised) I like to make sure my feet are looking their best. We don’t always get full use of sandals here in the UK so I want my feet to be beach ready. A great idea is to use . You pop these exfoliating socks on for 60 minutes and they will remove calluses, reduce cracked heels and give you baby soft feet in 7-10 days.
I definitely recommend doing this quite a bit before holiday if you have time as your feet will start to peel, so ideal to do it when you won’t always be in sandals. If you don’t quite fancy that then try the Starskin nourishing and cooling socks which will intensely nourish and soften your feet. These are done in 20 mins and you will have instantly soft feet.
Hands On
As well as my feet I like to get my hands ready. Hands ready you say? I’m not just talking about a manicure but I like to make sure I’ve exfoliated them, perfect for applying fake tan or preparing for a real tan. I like to use Jurlique’s Exfoliating Hand Treatment, it’s a 2 in 1 mask and scrub, so will scrub away any dead skin and leave them nice and soft. I then follow with the Jurlique Nail & Cuticle Treatment Oil, a great one if I decide to go for gel nails.
Which for a holiday is something I recommend, a gel manicure from Dryby normally lasts me three weeks, before I have the urge to take it off so it’s perfect for even a two-week holiday. If you want a quick fix, then use Starskin Nourishing Hand Mask Gloves, which you can even still use your phone when wearing for all those fellow phone addicts. These will help repair and soften hands and cuticles in 15 minutes.
Eyebrows on Fleek
I don’t tend to wear make-up during the day on a beach holiday and I’d never had my eyebrows tinted until recently. I went to High Definition Beauty in Notting Hill, or you might be more familiar with them as HD brows. They have just opened a beautiful salon and I had the HD Brows treatment. This was a tint, wax, threading, shaping and styling. It really makes such a difference and I picked up some tips along the way.
Just even having my eyebrows tinted made them look fuller and it is definitely something I would recommend before holiday if you are worried about yours. Find your nearest HD Brows treatment via their website beautyinhighdefinition.com.
In Flight
I have a pretty big in-flight beauty bag and even if I don’t plan to apply my make-up on flight I still take it with me so I won’t be left without out it in case my bags get lost. You can view my in-flight beauty essentials here. An idea though is to take something for the eye areas, especially if you are flying long haul. Masque Bar Eye Puffiness patches are ideally what you need. These handy sized patches minimize the appearance of eye puffiness, great for flying and also improve the elasticity of the eye area. Ginkgo and cucumber extract help de-stress and decongest so puffiness is reduced.
BB Cream
BB Cream with SPF is my absolute must-have product on holiday. It adds a tint of colour, adds moisture, conceals and protects your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Some of my favourites include La Roche Posay’s Antheliox XL 50+ in Comfort, this is ideal for my dry skin as it’s very moisturizing and the colour adjusts perfectly. As well as being waterproof it also comes in a version for Oily skin. I love how it has such high protection factor and is great for sensitive skin sufferers.
Another favourite I used on holiday is Bioderma‘s Anti-Redness SPF 30, this one is great for a fuller coverage and tint and still gives you that protection. I actually swapped my foundation out for this in the evenings and my skin felt so much better after it. If you suffer from any redness then this one is fab. If you like quite a matte finish then Clarins BB Cream SPF 25 is another great option, when applied wrinkles and lines are less visible, skin has a radiant finish and looks very natural.
Everything Cream
I’m not talking about your holiday wardrobe, no I’m talking make-up. I love using cream based products on holiday, whether it’s an eyeshadow, a bronzer, a blush or a lip based product. They just seem to last and work better with the heat and a lot of them can be waterproof too. A few favourites include MAC Cream Blush in Something Special, for a cheaper alternative try MUA Luxe Cream Blush in Spry, Ciate’s Pretty Stix Lipsticks, these have great pigment but feel so moisturizing and nourishing on the lips thanks to the Murumuru butter and Amino acid.
Illamasqua have a gel sculpting stick for contouring and it feels so cooling on the skin when you apply it. Plus I don’t leave home without a highlighter, my favourite at the moment is BECCA Skin Perfector in Opal.
