I had seen Nail Caviar around for a while with the most popular being the original ‘Ciate’ manicure, so when I was in Topshop picking up some arty nail pens I noticed another brand ‘Nail Rock’ had a similar idea.
They had two different colours, green and pink and a bronze and gold one, so I chose green and pink. The set was £7 from Topshop and comes with a striking green nail polish and a pot of pink and green ‘caviar’ which really is some 3D effect balls that are proposed to look like caviar!
I was excited to try it so gave it a go last night. Now before you start I would suggest putting down some tissue as the balls go everywhere!
How To Apply
1.I painted my nails with two coats of the green polish. As I was applying the second coat I then dipped the nail whilst still wet into the caviar pot, letting it pick up the balls. Make sure you dip it in quite far or you’ll miss off the edges.
2. Be sure to press the balls down firmly so they stick.
3. Wait 15-20 minutes for them to dry fully, I waited slightly longer as I felt the balls were still coming off a bit.
4. Admire your hot new nails!
I never applied top coat as it didn’t suggest to, but I may try that next time as I found the next day in the morning the balls were coming off, also the pink balls lost their colour after washing my hands several times and was leaking onto the skin around my nails! This then left them not looking as striking and a bit messy, not a good look! Although I still got stopped on the tube asking how I had done it.
is a great effect for a night out, but for wearable everyday nails I wouldn’t recommend.
Have you tried Nail Caviar before? I’d love to hear how you found it?

March 6, 2013 at 04:11I agree…for a night out, this is a great change of pace and everyone loves it. I tried the process all three of the previously mentioned different ways and ended up with the same results every time. It takes wayyy longer than 20 min to dry fully. The caviar was falling off within 3 hours of light activity. When I washed my hands, I noticed the pink was turning silver and ended up turning my fingers and sink a pink color. By the time I showered, almost half of the caviar was gone. I am disappointed that the product isn’t built for ANY activity but will probably use it the next time I go out. Hopefully no one looks too closely.

June 8, 2013 at 22:39Just tried the ciaté caviar manicure. Great effect but probably shouldnt have applied just before bedtime! All the beads are coming off in my bed! Not good. I think this is a manicure for a special night out rather than a wearable one.
