Claire

Name: Claire-Louise Rossi

How did you first get involved in music?

Music has been a huge part of my life from a very young age, the very first record I ever bought was an LP ‘Ride on Time’, by Black Box. At school I loved to perform in all the plays and school assembly and it develop into more of a passion than a hobby. During University I was part of a girl band for a while then a dance music project and when they didn’t work out I focused on writing my own material.

What inspires you to do what you do?

My own experiences inspire me to write, whether it’s about my relationships or the places that I travel and the people I meet. It’s the way I express myself I am my most happiest and most confident when I’m on stage performing.

Which song are you most proud of?

It has to be ‘Designed to Fly’, because it’s a song I wrote when I was feeling quite low and finding it tough pursuing a career in music and ironically it’s also the song that lead me to my collaboration with one of the UK’s biggest producers Labrinth.

How did the collaboration with Labrinth come about?

It was through Talenthouse (www.talenthouse.com) an online community where artists can collaborate on unique projects with well established artists and leading brands, I came across the opportunity to submit an original song for the chance to collaborate with Labrinth. I have been a fan of Labrinth’s ever since I heard the track he produced for Tinie Tempah ‘Pass out’ and had to enter so you imagine how excited I was when Labrinth chose my song!

After working with Labrinth , which producers would you like to work with?

It would be cool to work with Mark Ronson.

Who would be your dream collaboration?

I get asked this question a lot and it’s really hard to answer there is so many artists that inspire me but I would love to write music with Adele and Alicia Keys.

Who do you most look up to as an artist?

Alicia Keys is an amazing pianist/singer/songwriter, I love her lyrics.

Would you ever enter any talent competitions like The Voice and what is your opinion on them?

I think those sorts of programmes are good for singers especially who don’t write their own music. I would definitely audition for something like ‘The Voice’, if I could perform my own music, play piano showcase myself as an artist rather than just a singer.

Whats the next steps for Claire-Louise as an artist?

Writing lots more songs, building up a fan base and lots of live performances.
