How To Wear ’90s Denim

’90s clothing is now considered vintage as TikTok kindly informs me, yes the ’90s are actually 30 years old.

So what were the trends in women’s fashion in the 1990’s? Amongst the halter neck tops and jelly shoes, denim was a popular trend, double denim to be precise and Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were leaders of that key trend, hopefully not to be seen again. Whilst popular TV shows like Friends and 90210 had all the stars kitted out in the latest Levi’s jeans.

Another big trend with denim was big and baggy jeans and luckily in this revived era that we are having they have been adapted for a trendier look.

How To Wear 90s Denim in 2021?

There are plenty jeans that incorporate the 90s style this year, look for a wider leg and a looser fit.

This V by Very pair I’m wearing have a wider leg but are still flattering and I’ve paired them with , but you could easily opt for a sandal or high heel with these. I like the more relaxed fit than that of a skinny jean especially for Summer, but I won’t be throwing away my skinny jeans away just yet!

What To Wear 90s Denim With?

Unless you are opting for the double denim look, one of the simplest ways is a classic plain white t-shirt. Roll up the sleeves for an even more authentic ’90s look. They would also look great with a cropped top and stick to plain block colours.

Popular culture always plays a part in any fashion era, whether it is band tees or movie logos. Look out for accessories related to popular music, TV shows or celebrities at that time. You can’t go wrong with an iconic 90s bucket hat or scrunchie.
