I am pretty bad when it comes to going to the dentist, in that I will try to avoid it as much as I can. So when I received an email in my Inbox to try out the Covent Garden Dental Spa I decided to face my fear and give my teeth some tender loving care.
I booked in for the ‘Bright White Christmas Smile’ treatment which offers you a Deluxe Diamond Polish hygiene clean by a highly qualified dental professional for healthy gums and fresh breath plus includes a special airflow treatment to get rid of stains and have your teeth looking sparkly clean and brighter, all in time for socializing at Christmas parties. The Dental Spa is based on Neal Street in Covent Garden, so a look in the shop windows beforehand had me feeling a little calmer as I always get nervous before the dentist. However I shouldn’t have worried as I was met by the super lovely receptionist Aman on my way in who instantly made me feel at ease, taking my coat and explained to me the forms I had to fill out pre my treatment (general details) and then also informed me about the massage chair. Massage chair I hear you ask?
Well I was surprised too and I can tell you it was amazing. If you get nervous just like me this is the perfect thing to do the trick. The chair has its own little room, with incense, an iPod with some chilling tunes to relax and calm you down and a little buddha figure naturally. I spent about 20 minutes on this before my treatment which really helped put me at ease.
Next up it was time for the treatment. I met the hygienist Lana and she explained through the procedure throughly. The first part is the clean, so this involves taking the plaque off your teeth. Throughout this Lana made sure I knew everything and I felt so comfortable and knew exactly what she was doing. It wasn’t painful either which was what I was worried about as I had experienced a very painful hygiene clean before at a previous dentist.
The second part of the Christmas clean involves the Deluxe Polish. The polish uses an airflow system to get rid of stains and you can choose your flavour from cherry, apple, cassis, tropical and mint. I went for Cherry and I could actually really taste it, again Lana let me know everything she was doing. At the end of the treatment Lana also offered advice on the best way to look after my teeth which was really informative and helpful. My teeth looked very clean and sparkly plus I did the rub your tongue over them thing, you all know the one, and they really did feel great!
I weirdly enjoyed my time at the dentist and the team were amazing and you truly feel pampered! I have now booked in for a second treatment that was recommended to me.
If you fancy giving it a go yourself, The ‘Christmas Smile’ package I had is a special offer priced at £67.50 (normally £135), with £2.50 from every booking going towards www.smile4africa.org. Oh and you also get a festive kit to help upkeep your dazzling new teeth!
