Autumn/Winter Skincare

October 20, 2014

If you hadn’t noticed by the leaves all over the ground, we are well and truly into autumn and so gone are the days of my BB cream and light moisturiser. This week I have really stepped up my autumn skincare routine and so I thought I’d share with you some of the products I will be using to protect my dry /combination skin this season.

Autumn Winter Skincare Guide

I have been trying out the Stemcell range from Rodial and if you hadn’t already noticed, Rodial is one of my favourite skincare brands. All their products have been consistently brilliant with my skin and so for autumn/winter I wanted to test out the Stemcell range as it’s very hydrating for your skin and helps to keep it nourished and glowing throughout the day. I have been using the Rodial Stemcell Super Food Day-Cream £49 after serum and it gives a really beautiful glow that I haven’t really found with other moisturisers. I like this for day as it’s thick enough to hydrate but not too thick for daily use. It also has SPF 15 in it which I think it’s important to have in a moisturiser even for winter, the winter sun can sometimes be more harsh than in Summer. It has a super-food complex of Rose Hip Seed Oil, Goji Berry, Wheat Germ Oil and Pomegranate Extract to really help nourish the skin.

Rodial Stemcell Super Food Review

Rodial Stemcell Super-Food Cleanser For Autumn Skincare

It feels lovely on and compliments the Rodial Super-Food cleanser £32 really well. Again for dehydrated skin, this comes with a muslin cloth to wash it off with and the cream is quite thick in texture but has a lovely smell and feels really nice when applied to the skin. It feels like my skin is really soaking up the mix of anti-oxidants, coconut oil, rose hip oil, rose wax and cocoa butter and giving me a thorough cleanse. You can also use this cleanser as a mask too which is great for a weekly treat. For lips keep them looking their best with the Rodial Glam Balm Lip Balm £19, which has a rose scent and plumps the lips whilst keeping them nourished.

Autumn Winter Beauty Skincare Guide

You can’t beat a good exfoliator in winter, I stopped using an exfoliator as much in summer if at all. So now in winter I’m going to definitely be using one, like this No7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator. The beads in it are nice and light and not too harsh on the skin, it goes on quite creamy and left my skin feeling nice and smooth afterwards. Once I’ve prepped my skin I like to apply a serum before moisturiser, Kiehl’s have just launched this Hydro Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate £40, which deeply hydrates, plumps skin, smoothes the appearance of fine lines and texture and reduces the look of dull and tired skin which it can often get in the colder months I think. I was worried about combining such a moisturising serum with a moisturiser that does the same job but it sort of just acts like a double barrier. This one has a high concentrate of Glycerin 15% which is known for its moisture properties and also Shiso leaf extract which helps to retain moisture within the skin’s surface layers.

Face Masks for Autumn Winter Skin Care

I love a face mask and I definitely use them more often throughout the colder months. My favourites are the GlamGlow Thirsty Mud £39.99 which you may have seen my review on before, this just smells divine and really leaves your skin feeling so replenished afterwards. Also Purelogicol’s Triple Helix Collagen Boosting Mask £75 is a great way to treat your skin. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and enjoy nourished and hydrated skin with a collagen boost and helps to instantly firm skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It’s packed with Boaobab oil which moisturises skin and encourages cell regeneration. A little goes a long way with this pot, so it should last you a long time!

Mary Elizabeth Hand Cream and Nurture Balm

Not forgetting about the hands, Mary Elizabeth Juniper & Jojoba Hand Cream £9.50 and Spearmint Tea Tree Balm £6.75 are great additions to make sure my hands stay moisturised and the balm is great for lips, nails and hands too.

The GlamGlow is great isn’t it? It always helps to keep my face so moisturised. The Stemcell is such a good range from Rodial and really suits my skin type! I’ve heard the oil in the range is fabulous, I’ll need to give it a go too. xx
