John Lewis Rooftop Summer Retreat

This summer John Lewis is giving shoppers the chance to sit back, relax and sip a cocktail whilst the sun goes down at its brand new Summer Retreat on the rooftop of the flagship store in Oxford Street. On the rooftop you can enjoy food from authentic Neapolitan restaurant Rossopomodoro as well as favourite Joe & The Juice, returning for another year with their Juice Hut. There will also be the chance to shop on the roof with some of the brands taking up beach huts from fashion to outdoor living. Plus a whole host of events all summer long. The Summer Retreat is open from 12pm until close on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Sunday and from 12pm-4pm on Wednesdays.

Mercury 13 

Galeria Melissa London presents an immersive installation by artist Megan Broadmeadow. Megan brings the magic of the intergalactic with Mercury 13, which is the story of a team of female astronauts who never got the chance to fly to outer space. This installation comes to life with a large sculpture surrounded by LED screens featuring 3D eyes as well as mirrors taking a key role of the installation. Entry is free and it runs from now until August 31st.

This July sees the opening of a gourmet chip shop in Covent Garden, Kurg & Chips. Krug has partnered with Michelin starred chef Tom Sellers of Restaurant Story to create this amazing pop-up. Running from the 8th-12th July the dining experience will be a luxury take on the traditional British favourite ‘the chippy’ offering three chip-inspired dishes created by Tom all served with the perfect pairing of Krug Grande Cuvee for £35pp.

Shoes: Pleasure & Pain At The V&A

This new exhibition at the V&A looks at the extremes of footwear from around the world, presenting around 200 pairs of shoes from an Ancient Egyptian sandal decorated in pure gold leaf to some of the most elaborate designs by contemporary makers. The exhibition is sponsored by Clarks and will include exclusive product collaborations and shoes from collectors which may have never been seen before. Shoes: Pleasure & Pain runs at the V&A until January 2016. Tickets are priced at £12.
