Skate At Somerset House

January 3, 2014

It’s my first post of the New Year and already 2014 is shaping up to be quite exciting! Today I was lucky enough to win a £100 Topshop voucher thanks to Today I’m Wearing who chose me as their festive style star, read my mini Q&A and my winning looks with them on the site. I also won a £100 AQ/AQ voucher thanks to ASOS, so that’s my clothes sorted for the next couple of months!

I never make resolutions but I saw an interesting post from Richard Branson about writing down your goals so I’m going to do this and score them off as I complete them. The main things I want to do is complete my novel that I am writing, I’m nearly half way there and if you want to know any more about it just ask, I love talking about it, I have done for about two years anyway previous to writing it. I also want to keep expanding my writing portfolio and I also have a little side project in the pipeline but I won’t reveal that just yet as I hate to jinx things!

During the period between Christmas and New Year my friend Michelle came to visit and one of the best things we did was go skating at Somerset House. I have never been ice-skating in London before so was very excited to give it a go.

Skate at Somerset House

Somerset House has such a beautiful setting for skating, the ice-rink is right in the middle of the outside courtyard and is surrounded by a massive Christmas tree, giant SKATE letters on top of the building and a mini village with bar and also a festive shop. The skating this year was sponsored by Coach so the tree was covered in Coach gift tags.

Our skating slot was at 8pm so it was very dark outside but the rink was lit up perfectly and also cleaned before our session on the ice.  We ended up taking some pictures outside then turned round to see a queue had formed already, so we joined the end, checked in our bags and got our skates on, literally!

I am definitely not a good skater, as I said in my previous post I am basically Bambi, so I was a bit petrified of baby stepping onto the ice, but it was fine and I held onto the side for a while until I was brave enough to let go, the worst part is when there is no barrier and you have to go onto the next barrier section without support, eek!

We had such fun skating around the rink and they were playing some good Christmas tunes to get us in the festive spirit.  After all that hard work we figured it was time for some well-earned cocktails in Covent Garden.

Happy New Year
