Where I Travelled In 2017

Lisbon Things To Do - Travel Blogger - Paula Holmes

Whether you are looking for inspiration or some insider tips on a travel destination for next year, I thought I’d take a look back and share with you where I travelled this year. I finally got to tick off some bucket list destinations like Los Angeles and Saint Lucia and also discovered a new European city that I totally fell in love with as much as my favourite Barcelona. I’ll start off in Barcelona which we travelled to last December, how has that been a year already!?

Barcelona

Danny and I headed to one of our favourite European cities for New Year. We stayed five nights over New Years, a few days before the big event and then a few days after to relax. As we were staying a little longer than a weekend, we decided to book an apartment in the city, which turned out really well and we were located very central and just a short walk to Las Ramblas and Casa Batlló (the Gaudi house). It was nice to feel at home in the city we now have visited frequently and have been to for the past three Januarys.

We celebrated New years Eve at Eclipse Bar at the W Hotel, which was a fun night and it was great to spend New Years Eve in a different city. Barcelona has of course great Spanish food, my favourite being Tapas 24 for the best tapas experience, but there is so much to see and do. Check out my top ten things to do in Barcelona. Read More »

A Romantic Break At Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort, Saint Lucia

Horse riding on beach and swim Island Routes Saint Lucia

Never did I think I would end the year writing a post about visiting the Caribbean and better still Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia has been on my list of ‘want to visit’ places and I am so happy I got to visit it this year and with Danny. We were invited by Sandals as part of their #JustAddLove campaign to stay for a week at the Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort on the North of the Island in Castries.

I’ve always thought of Sandals as a place where people get married or go on honeymoon and I guess never considered it as just a general holiday choice. And yes those things do happen, the amount of times everyone thought we were on honeymoon or I was called ‘the wife’ we found funny but if you are looking for a couples holiday to explore the Caribbean I would definitely recommend it. There is an obvious reason why it’s chosen as a honeymoon location, because from the minute you land your are picked up and whisked off to your resort for a holiday of complete luxury and who doesn’t want that!? Madison ‘Soul Sunday’ Lunch Review

Soul Sunday Roast at Madison London Lifestyle Blog

St Paul’s might not be the first place in London you think of to visit for lunch or dinner, unless you work in the area or are visiting St Paul’s Cathedral. But it has everything you might want, the quick and easy bites, the trendy burger places and also the fancier restaurants on and around Bread Street.

Paula and I often pop to One New Change on the weekend, as it’s a great place to shop for avoiding the crowds, I swear on occasions we have had shops to ourselves. However one part of the centre that is always busy is Madison restaurant. We headed up (it’s on the sixth floor with the viewing platform) to sample their ‘Soul Sunday’ lunch menu. Read More »

At Home Pamper With Ted Baker Porcelain Rose

Ted Baker The Porcelain Rose Garden Collection Review Boots Star Gift - UK Beauty Blogger The LDN Diaries

It’s not an unfamiliar sight at home for me to be in my loungewear, with a face mask or two on and covered head to toe in body lotion. I absolutely love a home pamper, give me a night in with a hot bubble bath and beauty treats any day. So, when Ted Baker The Porcelain Rose Garden Collection arrived on my doorstep, I knew this was going to be the ultimate pampering gift – to myself.

The Ted Baker Christmas Gifts Collection is beautiful this year. The packaging has a vintage glamour feel with a floral fantasy design and of course everything is a lovely delicate pink colour. I mean when it matches your pyjamas exactly, you know it’s goals. The Porcelain Rose Garden Collection comes with two boxes filled with nine bathing treats, perfect for a night in and some much-needed ‘me-time’.

Champagne Afternoon Tea At Lord’s Cricket Ground

Lord's Cricket Club Afternoon Tea

If you have been a long time reader of the blog you will know I love my afternoon tea. So when I realised that I hadn’t actually been for one this year I had to quickly rectify the situation. Luckily for me I had just received an invite in my inbox to try out Afternoon Tea at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The Long Room within the Pavilion at Lord’s Cricket Ground is where members of the club would watch the cricket, so it’s not somewhere you would normally have access to. And if you want to join as a member there is just a twenty-nine year waiting list, that’s after your three recommendations from a previous member and so this was quite an experience to be invited into the member’s club. There is also a dress code, jacket and tie for gents and smart for the ladies. It was nice to dress up and have a true English Afternoon Tea. Read More »
