Olympic Fever at House of Nations

Olympic Mascot

I headed down to the Tower of London to check out the House of Nations pop-up bar for the Olympics. Set up in the exclusive garden in the Tower of London moat, this unique venue is a great place to enjoy some Pimms and watch the Olympics on the Giant HD screens and that is exactly what we did on Friday evening.

The pop-up is Β£10 to get in per person but you are given this back in vouchers to use against food or drink. The entry also gives you entry to the sister bar in Kings Cross, which is open till 3am.

As soon as you walk into the bar, there are huge TV screens, people playing ping-pong, lots of seating with fruit trees for decoration and all underneath one of biggest marquees I have seen.

An array of food is on offer from burgers to hog roast. I spotted the strawberries and meringues straight away. The bar has jugs of Pimms, the usual spirits and wines and some pretty big cocktail jugs. Bar snacks include peanut M&M’s hello.

Anna and I decided to get some Pimms and sit outside on the grass. It was a sunny evening but with all this rain the grass was pretty wet, never fear here comes a very helpful lady with two tartan blankets! Perfect.

It was great to be able to join in the festivities surround the Olympics in such a good atmosphere. People around us were playing bowls, giant Jenga and Connect Four.

Anyone for Giant Checkers?

You can also get your picture taken with a real Olympic torch. After some torch photo hogging and trying not to annoy the people behind us waiting, we got quite an array of pictures.

House of Nations is a great place to enjoy the Olympics and enjoy some sun in the gardens, I would recommend popping along before the games are over!
