Dine In This Valentine’s With Love Heart Jellies

February 9, 2015

You can’t help but notice Valentine’s is this weekend and when I was in Paperchase recently I got a bit carried away with all the cool little bits they had. They had cute love heart fluffy pens, rose petals for the bath and all sorts really! I ended up picking up this heart-shaped cake soft tin and some heart-shaped cookie cutters. For what I really wasn’t sure!? Then I decided to put them to use for this dine in post. So if you are staying in this Valentine’s and you want something that is relatively easy and fun to make – well I don’t know about you but I do, then why not give this love heart jelly dessert a go. I am definitely not a cooking person at all so this is great and so simple!

For this Valentine’s dessert you will need:

A tin/bowl something big enough to put the jelly in. (I used the Paperchase soft heart bowl)

Heart shaped cookie cutters

A measuring jug

2 packs of strawberry jelly

1 bottle of Codorníu Rosado Brut NV

And that’s it! This is really super easy and is a nice addition to your dine in food for Valentine’s.

First up you will need to fill the measuring jug up with boiling hot water. One pack of jelly needs half a pint, so two would need a pint and so on. Stir until dissolved.

If you aren’t a drinker then add cold water, but I am adding in the Codorníu to top it up. Once you have added that give it a bit of a stir and then pour it all in the container. This cake tin I got is designed to cut a cake in a heart shape (very clever) but for jelly it’s much easier with the cookie cutters to get that perfect heart shape.

Put in the fridge for a good few hours, if it’s going a bit slow just pop it in the freezer for about 40 minutes but make sure it doesn’t freeze over. A good idea is to put it in the fridge overnight if you have the time. Then take your cookie cutter and just delve it right in to the bottom, Give it a slight twist and then take a spoon or flat knife and lift it up from the bottom, be very careful it doesn’t fall apart. My first one came out so well, but the second started to break a little.

Decorate with heart cake decorations and top up your glasses with the remaining fizz.

Easy peasy and a great idea for a simple effective Valentine’s dessert!
