Coney Island, Brooklyn

September 4, 2016

Stepping off the tube at Coney Island you feel like you have left New York behind and you’ve jetted off to the seaside. You wouldn’t ever think New York had a beach and when you head to Coney Island, you definitely don’t feel like you are in New York anymore.

So where is Coney Island? It’s Southern Brooklyn, so right at the bottom if you were looking at Google Maps.

The beach runs all the way along and we got off at Brighton Beach tube which is more of the beach area and walked along the sea front to Luna Park, which is the amusement park. It’s filled with splashes of colour, amazing rides, big wheels, lobster rolls and hot dogs and even a Zoltar fortune-telling machine. There is so much to do, just buy your tokens and off you go. I was too much of a wimp for any of the rides so decided to opt for drinking frozen margaritas instead and watching the world go by. I absolutely love the games where you win the giant teddies though, definitely a great idea for a date place.

From Luna Park, you can walk further and go across the Pier, we never did this but there is certainly a lot you can do here. Around Coney Island area was also mini golf, go-karting and some fun shops too. You might recognise Coney Island from the TV show Mr.Robot, unfortunately I never managed to find F Society.

When you come to Coney Island you really don’t want to leave, especially on a sunny day like we had.  I hope you enjoy the photo diary and check out more clips from Coney Island in my New York video.

Aww this post made me homesick! I miss Brooklyn so much. I’m glad that you stepped out of the zone and ventured to Coney Island.
